American girls sailor dresses

One popular style of dress was the sailor dresses. We are not sure when the first sailor dresses appeared. ThevBritish royal family introduced the sailor suit as a boys' garment in the 1840s. We are not sure just when the first sailor-styled dress appeared. They were worn by younger boys and girls of all ages. We know girls were wearing them by the 1870s. We are not sure if they were worn earlier. Thete were many different styles. Buys stoped wearing sailor dresses after the turn of the 20th century. They remained a very popular style for girls. After World war II they declined in popularity, but have never really disappeared.
