1910s Cabinet Cards: Color


Figure 1.--This cabinet card was taken in Chicago in 1912. The boy is Ralph Patterson Olmstead. The mount was done in one of the grey shades popular at the time. Notice the border. Click on the imsage for more information aboput Ralph.

A lot of the mounts seem to have been done in white shades. Some look like cream, but this may be in part an aging effect. We also notice vatious grey shades--mostly blue-green shades. Here is a good example of the blue-green grey shades (figure 1).
