New American Cabinet Cards: Mount Style 1920s Chronology--Decoration

Figure 1.-- This cabinet card was done of the Lincoln School near Lebnon, Pennsylvania in 1922. Here we see a light olive green mount with a singe thick border line. The impressed studio information is at the bottom center.

Some 1920s cabinet cards are ornate. Others just have framing, both impressed frames and colored lines, often thick lines. Some cabinet cards were heavily decorated, but usually not the school portrait cards. Framing lines were very common and done in various ways. We can see the impressed framing lines on the previous page along with a coordinated dark border. The impressed framing lines also varied. Other cabinet cards just had colored line borders, in some cases quite thick lines. Here we see a sinle thick border line (figure 1).
