Sportswear is a type of casual clothing. It is a phenomenon of the 20th century, especially after World War II. Before that the primary sportswear was swimsuits. After the War, sportswear of all kinds became popular, especially by the 1970s. We do not yet have many sports wear items. We do have a red and beige woolen swimsuit from the 1920s. Notice the button on the singlet strap. We are not sure just how popular these colorful suits were ar the time. Woolen suits continued to be popular in the 1920s.
