Figure 1--Here Prince Wilhelm and Prince Louis Ferdinand wear broad-brimmed sailor hats with tunic suits.

The princes worn babby bonnets and tams when very younger. We do not yet have much information on the boys' headwear. A younger boys they mostly wore sailor caps. One photograph shows them wearing soft sailor caps. Another shows them wearing flat topped sailor caps. They also wore broad-brimmed sailor hats, but cap were more common. They appaear to most commonly wear the white soft sailor cap. I am not sure wehat was written on the tally. During the winter they wore knitted wool caps. We note images of the boys wearing flat caps when wornking with horses--at least the older boys. A photograph after the Wars show them wearing flat caps and a Tyroleam-style cap.

Sailor Caps

A younger boys they mostly wore sailor caps. One photograph shows them wearing soft sailor caps. Another shows them wearing flat topped sailor caps. They appaear to most commonly wear the white soft sailor cap. We have few images of the boys wearing blue caps. I am not sure wehat was writte on the tally because we do not yet have any close ups of the boys in these caps so we can read the tally. British boys wore the names of famous ships in their tallies, German boys more commonly the region they were from.

Sailor Hats

They princes wore broad-brimmed sailor hats, but cap were more common. Here the brims were of varying length, both medium and brfoad brims.

Knit Caps

During the winter the princes wore knitted wool caps as warm weather clothing on informal outings, like ice skating on place ponds. <>br>

Flat Caps

We note images of the boys wearing flat caps when worgking with horses--at least the older boys. Unlike images showing all the boys dressed alike, images of the older boys in flat caps sometimes show the younger boys still wearing sailor caps. This may have been a style seen suitable for riding when for other occassiond the boys still wore sailor caps. This we are not sure about. A photograph after the War show them wearing flat caps with suits and not neceessarily for riding.

Tyrolean Caps

We do not note many images of the boys wearing Tyroleam-style caps, but one portrait taken after World War I shows one of the boys wearing one.
