Figure 1--I'm not sure about this image, but I believe that it is Wilhelm Frederick and Cecile with two of their sons, Wilhelm and Louis Ferdinand. This photograph was taken in 1919 after the Kaiser had abdicated and the family fled to the Netherlands. |
Princess Cecilie also seems to have liked sailor outfits. Several of the outfits the childrem wore has sailor styling. One outfit with a Russian styled tunic was worn with
short pants. The boys also wore sailor suits with traditional styling. Again these boys were often dressed alike in these sailor suits. Sailor suits appear to the the
primary long pants outfits that the children wore as boys. I have not noted any inmages of the boys wearing fancy outfits like Fauntleroy suits. I'm not sure when they
began wearing more maturely styled suits, probably about age 14 or 15.
The boys sometines wore Russian blouses. Usually the ones with the square open collar.

They had white and blue suits and suits with white middy blouses with blue trousers. Sailor suits appear to have been primary long pants outfits. Although I notice that Prince Wilhem wore short pants uniforms as younger boys, I'm not sure if the other boys did. There mother had a penchant for dressing them identically. So once Prince Wilhelm behan wearing long pants sailor suits m his brothers appear to have also worn them.
