The Windsor Boys' School today is a secondary school for boys 13-18 years old. The school has changed substantially since being established (1908). The school began as the Windsor County Boys' School. We are not sure just what a county school was in terms of age/form level, but wethink it may have been an early satre secondaryb school. At the time only a small percentage of English children went on to secondary schools after finishing the 8 year primary system. During World War II and the NAZI Blitz, the Clapham High School for Girls was evacuated to Windsor County Boys' School which was pobably a shock to the students. We are not sure when Windsor County became the Windsor Grammar School. Apprently after World War II. Windsor Boys' School today as far as we can make out is a state school rather than a private/independent school. The first non-selective intake took place (1977). This was at the time that grammar schools were converted to comprehensives in Britain. And the time that Windsor Grammar School became the Windsor Boys School.
