Lycee Lamoriciere: School Clothes

Figure 1.--Here we see some of the older boys at the Lycee Lamoriciere. This is the 1 ere class. Several of the boys wear suits and ties. Even many of the boys just wearing sweaters have ties. We are not sure this is there normal school wear or if they dressed up for the class portrait.

The Lycee Lamoriciere does not have a school uniform. The clothes theboys wear are thus a reflection of popular contemporary styles. We see boys the younger boys in the 1940s and early 1950s wearing casual jackets and sweaters with a variety of short pants, knickers, and long pants. Here age is a major factor, but seasonality may be also involved. By the 1960s the boys are almost entirely wearing long pants. The older boys appear to dress more formally, many in suits and ties, at least for the school portrait. Even many of the older boys just wearing sweaters have ties. We are not sure this is there normal school wear or if they dressed up for the class portrait.

Uniforms

The Lycee Lamoriciere does not have a school uniform. Some catholic schools at the time did have uniforms, but we do not know of any state schools in the post-World War II era wearing uniforms.
