Malroy École Professionnelle D'Agriculture: Chronology--The 1910s

Figure 1.--Here we see a detail from the school portrait for the 1919-20 school year, immediately after World War I. The boys all wear suits. The boys in the 1910s wore both the suits that buttoned at the collar and the suits with "V" fronts and lapels. One boy wears a fancy suitt with a cit-away jacket and Eton collar. Most bots with lapel suits wear neckties. One boy has a floppy bow and what look likes an Eton collar. Clicke on the image to see a the school portrait in 1918.

There was no school uniform. The boys in the 1910s all wear suits. I'm not sure if the school had any kind of dress code. The boys in the 1910s wore both the suits that buttoned at the collar and the suits with "V" fronts and lapels. A few boys wore styles such as cut-away jackets, military jackets with brass buttons, and sailor suits. We also note quite a range of collars. Some boys wore the jackets that cobered their collars. The collars are difficult to make out. We notice a few boys wearing Eton collars, but they were relatively rare. Several boys have shirts with high collars, a popular stylke in the 1910s. They do not look very comfortable. Most boys with lapel cuits wore neckties. We see a few boys with floppy bows. Most boys wore neckties, but we see a few boys with floppy bows. It is difficult to tell the way the photographs are posed, but most boys appear to be wearing long pants. A few of the younger boys wear kneepants, but we do not note msny boys wearing knickers. The image here is for the 1919-20 school year. We suspect that at a urban school that kneepants may have been more prevalebnt among the boys. It is interesting as you see some of the syles populare in the 1910s as well as some of the syles which were to become dominant in the 1920s (figure 1).
