German Schoolwear: Lederhosen Chronology, 1970s


Figure 1.--Here we see a scene at a progressive school in Germany during 1973. The image show that Lederhosen were being worn extensively among young school boys in Germany at that time

Many class photos show boys wearing lederhosen in the eraly 1970s, but their popularity declined during the decade--being worn mostly during the warmer months. We note that Lederhosen in the 1970s were mostly being worn by yunger boys. We see fewer older boys wearing Lederhosen to school in the 1970s. Note the photograph on the previous page of what looks like Kindergarden children in 1971. Some of thge boys wear Lederhosen. A reader has forwarded a picture taken from a progressive school at Stuttgart in Germany in 1973. [Moeller-Andressen] The images show that Lederhosen were being worn extensively aong young school boys in Germany at that time (figure 1).
