Smocks

Quite a few of the boys wear smocks. They appaer to be many varied styles and colors. This is interesting that in a German school that so many boys wear smocks. Many of the boys in smocks are probably wearing suspender shorts under their smocks. Some boys wear full sleeved smocks while others wear pinafore-type sleevless smocks. One boy hav a "V" neck mock.

Figure 2.--This close up shows themany different types of smocks that the boys wore. One boy here has bibfront shorts.

Suspender Shorts and Skirts

Both the boys and girls wear suspender short pants or skirts as the case may be. One boy wears a lederhosen halter, but mosr boys wear plain suspender shorts. All the boys appear to be wearing shorts. It is likely that more of the boys wear suspender shorts that the photograph suggests. Some of the suspender shorts are straight suspenders in the samevmaterial as the shorts. A few have a horizontal crossbar rather like lederhosen. These look very similar, especially the dark colored ones. Note that a few have the childrenm bith boys and girls, have their the suspenders to their shorts or skirts following off their shoulders. That is why some have crossbars on their suspenders. One boy here has bibfront shorts.

Pinafores

Several boys wear smocks. The girls do not seem to be wearing smocks, but many wear pinafores. Most wear white pinafores rather like the ones worn by Russian girls. One girl has a print pinafore. While the girls' pinafores are mostly white, most of the boys' smocks are colored.

Sweaters

One boy wears a rather adult-looking sleeveless sweater. A few other boys may be wearing sweaters, but it is difficult to tell with the low image resolution.

Shirts

The boys wear a variety of colored and plaid shirts. All are long-sleeved shirts.

Socks

Some children wear kneesocks, but many wear sandals without socks.

Figure 3.--Notice that several boys have the crossbar on their suspender shorts. One boy here has strap shoes.

Footwear

The children mostly wear sandals. English-style "T"-strap school sandals appear popular. One boy wears strap shoes. Another boy wears what look like slip-on sneakers.

Hair Cuts

The boys all have relatively short hair cuts, A few boys have quite close cropped hair.
