English is introduced to the children at a early point. English is important o Japan because it is an international language. And virtually no one outside of Japan speaks Japanese. The Japanese economy is based on foreign trade. Thus foreign languages are important for the Japanese. And English as it has become a kind of defacto international language which can be used in many countries besides just America, Britain, and other English speaking countries. So some attention is given to English beginning in orimary schools, both private and publuc schools. The school partivipates English language competitions. A study reports, "Today, we held the English speech contest in the elementary school at the xiāng mái. zi dà xué green hall. Representatives of each class competed. Every announcement was amazing and hard to put on. This year, the theme has changed a little, and it has been implemented in the following content. ２年生 「Favorite things」 3th grade -- swimmy, 4th grade -- about the prefectures of Japan, 5th grade -- about programming of sdgs challenges solving robot, and 6th grade -- my dream. In particular, the presentation of the 5･6th grade was stunning."
