Individual Czech Schools--Smiricích School (1913)

Figure 1.--This is the Smiricích School in 1913 while Czechoslovakia was still part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

We do not know much about Smiricích School at this time. It looks to be a primary school, although a few of the children look older than primary age. Also note thsat it is a coed group. I don't think this is a class group, in part because there are several teachers with the children. It is notable for the range of outfits worn by the boys. Some boys werar short pants, or perhaps kneepants, it is difficult to tell. Some are barefoot while others wear long stockings. Other boys wear long pants. I think this might be a graduating group. The boys all seem to be wearing suits. Only two boys have cropped hair, a very popular hair style at the time. This seems to hasve been a style that was more popular for younger boys. One boy looks to be wearing a Bavarian jacket.
