Individual Scottish Schools: Benrinns School

Figure 1.-- This school was located in Benrinnes, a small village situated in Aberlour. This is in the eastern Highlands. Benrinnes is what might be called a whisky village. We see children playing, presumably during the school's morning break. We do not know much about the school, but this photograph that looks like the 1950s. The press caption read, "Benrinnes School where, where the majority of the pupils are the children of those who either directly or indirectly gain their livelihood from the village distillery. The small girl in the foreground is one of farmer Charlie Craig's ten children." We do not know much about the school, but have a photograph that looks like the 1950s. The boys mostly wear shirt apmts and knee socks. We don't see any kilts. We don't know if that would have been different before the War.

This looks to be the back of the school where the children hd a play area. Unlike most British school, there was no enclosed paved play area, probably because it was such a small villge school. We do not know much about the school, but have a photograph that looks like the 1950s. The boys mostly wear shirt pants and knee socks. We only see one boy wearing long pants. We don't see any kilts. We don't know if that would have been different before the War.
