Figure 1.--This Globe elementary primary school contains a number of Hispanic and Native American children, apparently. There seem to be a predominance of boys although we see a few girls. I think this must be the first grade because the kids look very young, no older than six in most cases. The variety of clothes the boys wear is striking--overalls, white shirts with short pants and knee socks or short pants and long stockings (one boy on the extreme left is obviously wearing white long stockings with supporters), but even long trousers are evident in a few places.

A few of the girls have very large hair bows, and we notice one boy in a dark sailor suit. One boy has a dark short pants suit on. We note that the first grade class is much smaller than the higher grades. We suspect a lot of the children dropped out before finishing the full 6 year program. .
