This was Miss Adkin's 2nd Grade class at the Vienna Elementary School in 1951-52. The class portrait was taken April 15, 1952. April is commonly a little chilly, even in Georgia. The girls wear dresses, a few have added sweaters and one girl wears a coat. The boys mostly wear long-sleeve shirts. Several have added jackets or sweaters. One boy has a cowboy theemedsweatshirt. A heary soul wears a short-sleeve "T"-shirt. Most of the boys wear jeans. Almost all the children wears shoes. One boy is barefoot. This was becoming less common in the United States, even in the Deep South by the 1950s. We note, however, that when the weather warms up that more children (mostly the boys) come to school barefoot.
