Buxton School (1928)

Figure 1.--Buxton is a small towm towm on Northwest Oregion, a few mile inland. There was a small school calpboard school with about 45 children. It appears based on how the children were dressed to have been to have been a farming and logging area. One boy wears a white suit jacket and tie with long black stockings. He is presumably waring knickers. The other boys as far as we can tell wear long pants, many overalls--basically work/play pants. The girls wear dresses.

It appears based on how the children were dressed to have been to have been a farming and logging area. One boy wears a white suit jacket and tie with long black stockings. He is presumably waring knickers and looks rather out of place. The other boys as far as we can tell wear long pants, many overalls--basically work/play pants. The girls wear dresses. The portrait was taken in 1928. A new school was built in 1938. The school was closed as part of a consolidation effort (1998). It is now a Christian accademy. There is little information on the photograph, but it was in the estate of Elsie Meyer and it is identified as being taken in 1928. And is how we know that the photograph was taken in Buxton, Oregon and the inscroption on the photogrph is not just the name of the photographer or studio.
