Rompers by the 1940s appeared to be in he process of evolving into a casual style for girls clothing. We do not see rompers in alot of oher countries. The primary excepion was France, but in Frnce, rompers were a very popular garmen for younger boys. We do not noice Amercan boys wearing rompers in he 1940s, even younger boys. We do notce teenage girls might wear them, at least for high-school gym uniforms. We think girls began wearing romper suits for gym rather than bloomer outfits common in the early-20th cenury. Rompers began to be adoped presumably occurred after romper-like bloomer suits became a standard type of girls' gym uniform. They began to become shorter in the 1930s than he gym unifom worn in he 20s. he became very short inlengh during the 1940s, more like the gym shorts boys were wearing. We do not notice girls wearing a lot f rompers ouude of schoolgym, but we do note some younger pre-school girls wearng them. We are not sre at his about primary school age girls.
