Grman H-Bar Pants: Chronlogical Trends

Figure 1.--Her we see a German boy with his mother. He wears rather long H-bar shorts. The photograph is undated, but we would guess it was taken in the early 1920s.

We do not have enough information to assess chronological conventions for H-bar shorts yet. We are not yet sure in particular about the 1910s. We tend to note H-bar pants in Germany most commonly from the 1920s through the 1940s. Here we see a German boy wearing rather long H-bar shorts, we think in the early 1920s (figure 1). We note a German boy who we think is wearing H-bar shorts, prbably in the 1920s. We note a stylish German mother has all her three boys in 1939 wearing H-bar shorts. We note a German boy with his mother, probably during early 1940s. They begin to become less common in the 1950s. We note boys from the former royal family wearing H-bar and suspender shorts in 1952.
