American Eton Collars: Age Trends--10 Year Olds

Figure 1.-- This cabinet card show three Illinois boys, presumably brothers. The abcninet card mount looks like the 1890s. The younger boys look to be about 10 years old, they look like twins. They wear their double-breasted suit with Eton collars and large white bows. Their slightly older brother looks to be about 12 years old. Mother clearly thought that the Eton collar was for boys up to about 10 years of age. He wears a regular collar and modest-sized colored bow. The two younger boys wear straight-leg knee pants. The older boys wears knickerm but trim fitting ones. All three wear black long stockings. The studio was McDougall in Jacksonville, Illinois.
