**
While we see some children wearing smocks around the home, this does nor see to be the case with outings. At least we have not noted it to a great extent in thephotographic record. We see children wearing theur school smocks on the way to school and for a time playing after school. But we don't see the children extensively wearing smocks away from home and school, although our archive is still limited. And we are still trying to assess such comventions. We note French children wearing smocks in beach settings. As best we can tell, however, these were school groups. This seems to be some kind of fied trip or other school activity. What we are talking about here, however, is not schoolo, outings, but family outings or other outings closdeb tyomhime. We note boys wearing smocks at a recrrational event apprently close to home in which the children are erearing the clothes they normally wore at hime. This was less common for family vacations and other events away from home. While the boy here we have found is wearing a rompersuit, we note another boy at the same outing definitly wearing a smock.
