Here we see two American siblings in the 1920s. The children look to be about 5-8 years old. All we know about the portrait is that the studio was King and Frumkin in Albany, New York. There is a name written on the paperframe, something lke 'Moare' We are not sure if that is the photogrphr's or the family's name. A reader has provided some ueful comments:
"1) The middy sailor suit is colored but not the raditionsal navy blue as the contrast in black and white for the collar, cuffs, silk scarf and emblem on the shoulder are probably navy, though it could be black too. [HBC suspects it was brown. We are not sure why, but we do see some brown suits in the 1930s. Tht was unusual earler. Brown was a common color for boy's clothes, except for sailor suits.]
2) I believe the outfit is jersey knit with sleeve knit cuffs.
3) It looks like the boy's shorts have a kind of cuff. [HBC does not believe the boy's short pants hads cuffs. Shorts ere no dome with cuffs. Even long panyts the time did not have cuffs. But our eagle-eyed reader has picked up on something. The boy's shorts are unusual. We wondr id he might be wearing knickers and wht you see are the knickers knit hrm closing. We are not vsure about tht, but we do not hink the shorts had cuffs.].
4) His shoes are ankle strap shoes in patent leather; I suspect the shoes were purchased for the photo but maybe not though he seems a bit old for wearing that type of shoe for a boy.
5) His shield is of the same color as the middy and has contrasting navy or black stripes to match the middy.
6) His over the calf hose matches the sailor suit and has a striped turned down top.
7) His haircut reminds me of the style that was popular with Charles Lindbergh. the enormously popular viator ast the time."
