Pinky Wingate (Judy Garland) is concerned about her widowed mother and she wants a new dad. She wants to remarry, but Pinky wants to make sure she finds just the right person. She is afraid her mother is about to make a big mistake. So Pinky talks her friend Buzz Mitchell (Freddie Bartholomew) to help her. They proceed to kidnap Mrs. Wingate and take her on an extended husbanding hunting expedition. Not a part that I would have imagined for Freddy. Mrs. Wingate is duly locked in a trailer. They then set out with little brother, 9-year old Billie (Scotty Beckett) to find that perfect husband. The little brother played by Scotty Beckett wears an Eton suit (figure 1). For much of the film he wears an Indian costume. The character he played must have liked stories of the frontier. Toward the end of the film, though, as his mom is on her way to remarry, Scotty appears in a grayish short pants suit. I'm not sure how Buzz was costumed.
