Figure 1.--The Dutch film "De Noorderlingen" is black commecy. The character seen here is Anton. The movie focuses on a derelect 1960s housing estate. The imagery is highly surealistic.

We know nothing about this film. We are not even where and when it was made. It does not look American. Nor do we know that "Northernors" is the actual title. We have seen some film clips. Hopefully HBC readers can provide some information about this film. Some of our readers were indeed familair with it. the actual title is "De Noorderlingen" and it is a Dutch-language film directed by Alex von Warmerdam. It is a black comedy done in a surealistic manner. The film takes place during the1960s in a derelict set in a decrepit housing estate. The key figure is Thomas whose mother moves toward sainthood, frustrating his father. Thomas turns away from all this by focusing on the nightly news reports which are all about the caos in the Belgian Congo at the time. Thomas pretends to be Patrice Lumumba, one of the leaders emerging in the Congo. Thmas is humored by Plagge, the postman who keeps amused by reading the mail he dlivers and thus kow all about everyone in the housing esate. Two of the important charcters are Anton (Rudolf Lucieer) and Thomas (Leonard Lucieer).
