The 'Our Gang' shorts were shot over three decades. Thus we have wonderful, fun source on clothing treds during the inter-War period. 'Our Gang' films were made over quite a few years and thus provide a wonderful view of children's clothes in America during the 1920s and 30s. The series is notable for the wide range f outfits that the children wore. And we see some of the changes being made. Here we see a 1920s scene (figure 1). Onn the previous page we have a 1930s scene. We think costuming may at first been limited during the 1920s, we have a good view as to how ordinary children dressed during the inter-War era or at least how the producers thought they dressed. For the most part the children were dressed down, meaning that they wore more worn and ragedy clothing thn many American children wore. A few of the children were dressed more sprtly. As they were well paid, we believe that as the seies progressed that the chilldren actually were very well dressed. Here we want to load various 'Our Gang' images over the period in which they were shot. The children were fairly young and thus over this period we see a change of faces as new boys and girls replaced the children that outgrew their roles.
