Specific Tarzan Film

We note a still with Boy Scouts from a Tarzan film (figure 1). We are not sure of the film it came from. It may be "Tarzan and the Golden Lion", but we arenot sure.

Radio Program

The Pierces became very well known because they starred on the populat Tarzan radio series. They were replaced when Joan became pregnant. The producers were concerned that the pregnancy would upset the production schedule. They replaced her and Jim refused to do the program without her.

Costuming

The film illustrates the utility of movie costuming. The outfits of the natives are of course the creation of the costume designer. The boys, however, wear actual period Boy Scout uniforms. Clearly films with contemporary settings are the most useful, but even here great care must be used in using movies to assess clothing styles.
