Individual Biographies: Dan Bescoter (United States, 1903-14)

Figure 1.--Perhaps 2 years after the first photograph, we see all three boys playing in their back yard. Presumably dad has them all posed for a photograph. They seem to live in a small town, but as the boys all have trikes, we suspect that they were a comfortable middle class family. Notice that the trikes have metal wheels.

They seem to live in a small town, but as the boys all have trikes, we suspect that they were a comfortable middle class family. Notice that the trikes have metal wheels. Apparently rubber wheels appeared on bikes before trikes. We are not sure just why that was. The younger boys, including little brother Bob, wear shorts and three-quarter socks while their older brother Carl wears knickers and long stockings. The difference is probably that Carl had begun school by the time this photograph was taken.
