![]() Figure 1.--Pisti even at 3 years of age in 1894 has his hair cut. His brothers have not yet arrived. He wears a plain kneepants sailor suit. Note the collar is done in a different color, perhaps light blue. Note his huge wide-brimmed sailor cap. |
After the boys were breached, the most common outfit they wore was various styles of sailor suits or suits with clear sailor suit stylistic influences. Pisti in 1894 at bout age 3 wears a white sailor suit with very long kneepants. Not only were kneepants well below the knnne the style, but they allowed him plenty of room for growth. He holds an enormous white-brimmed flat-topped sailior hat. A 1895 portrait shows Pisti in 1895 wears a destinctive kneepants suit. He was about 4 years old and wears a destinctive kneepants suit, which can be seen on the main Pisti page. Note the sailor influence in the "V" collar and back flap worn over a doubble-breasted jacket. His mother seems to have been very partil to sailor suits for her sons. Instead of the traditional strip detailing, there is an embroidered design. This may be an Hungarian influence, since the family lived in Budapest, as I have not seen his style before. It is worn with a large Peter Pan collar and small bow. The bow looks to be a pastel color rather than white, but I am not sure about the color. Also note how high up the leg the three-button detailing on the kneepants comes. Usually the buttons are much closer to the hem. We note that the kneepants worn by his brothers also had this destinctive arrangement. We are not sure if this was a Hungarian or Austrian style or just a peculiarity of the clothes made for these boys. He wears long stockings and high-topped shoes.
