HBC readers hve expressed an amzement of level of radicalism and misinformation prevalent in Pakistan. Part of the reason for this is the limits of open debate. Individiduals who dare to question the prevailing wisdom are subject to physical attacks, charges of disloyalty or even worse blasfemy, and arrest and persecution under the country's blasfemy laws. Remember that these are business people who you would have thought are some if the best educated and informed people in the country with some knowledge of the outside world. We thought that readers might find interesting the ensuing discussion with Mr. Muhammad Faizan.
First I would like to tell you that millions of customers are doing business
with our country from, all over the world, also from your country.
We are in city Sialkot, which is known in all over the world one of the big
industrial city of Asia, all the surgical instrument, sports wear, safety
wear, etc are being manufactured in our city and supplying to USA, Europe,
etc, but they have not any risk in matter of doing business to our country.
As for as the matter of harbor countries, I think you should read this a
statement which sent by a my customer from America,
("Many Pakistanis do not like Americans. We do too much bombing around the
world with our military and cause people in the middle east to hate us. I
think our military needs to get out of those places including Afghanistan
and Pakistan with our Military. There would be less terrorism if we got out
of the middle east".)
I need the answer of my questions.
First, America blamed to Iraq without any proof, that they have nuclear
power plant, then attacked on Iraq with heavy weapons, and died millions of
innocent people of Iraq, and now they occupied on Iraq, after this
Afghanastan, Libya, shaaame, etc. And they have found nothing what they are
blaming.
Why America destroyed the peace of Iraq, Liby, Afghanastan?
Now, America destroying the peace of Pakistan, and brutalize killing the
people of Pakistan, with drone attack, suicide bombing.
Why drone attack at Pakistan?
If America attack to innocent people , then they will never sit with peace
they will also attacked to American's military, it's the right of them to
attacked on enemy.
America self created the terrorists, America supported to terrorists when
Russia attacked on Afghanastan and got lose them by muslims.
Only one content to attacking all the muslims countries, to get oil, and
destroyed the peace of Muslims countries.
Rather our government is stupid, greedy and whore son, who is supporting to
American military, against the innocent muslims.
They are not muslims who throw the acid, and died to innocent people.
If we support and facilitate to terrorists then why they would suicide
attacked into our country?
American is playing role as desperate.

I did not say all Americans agree on this issue. America is a democratic country. WE have a great diversity of opinion on political as well as religious matters and do not kill each other because of these differences. That is why we are a rich, successful country and why you want to do business with us.

This is not a question, but a poorly stated piece of propaganda. In fact there was a great deal of evidence about Iraq and weapons of mass destruction. We know that Iraq was working on nuclear weapons. The Israelis destroyed the nuclear reactor in the 70s and a great deal of work was underway. We know that Saddam had chemical weapons because he used them on the Kurds. Or you so badly informned that you do not know about this. What was not discovered was STOCKPILES.
Of course we attacked Iraq with heavy weapons. When Pakistan attacked India with three times, I don't recall you using bows and arrows and spears. Iraq had one of the largest most heavily armed military forces in the world. Do you really not know about this.
Millions of people were not killed in the American invasion, but over a million people were killed in the Iraqi invasion of Iran and Kuwait. These were Muslims. Why do you not know about this?
I keep hearing this nonsense about America from people like you. Nothing about the Muslims we have saved around the world such as in Bosnia, Kosovo, Darfur, etc. Or the millions of Pakistanis we have saved because of the medicines and medical procedures we have developed. What medicines has Pakistan developed to save your own people?
I don't here Libyans complaining about NATO intervention to remove Kadafi. They wanted MORE American force used. The complaints come from people like yourself who hate America and dream up absurd accusations.
Today in Syria, the people would love for American to intervene to free them from a tyrant as evil as Saddam.
Pakistan is hardly a peaceful country, supporting terrorists in Afghanistan and India. There are consrant incidents of attacks between Sh'ia and Sunni and attacks in Christians. And why are there virtually no Jews in your country. (Both Israel and Anmerica have a substabtial and GROWING Muslim population who are not attacked for their religious beliefs.) And I note protest to Save a Murderer: A Pakistani mob protests the death sentence of a confessed murderer who killed Salman Taseer former governor of Punjab. Even the liberal news organization France 24 understands the take-over of Pakistan by the fundamentalists.
If you do not like drone attacks, then stop harboring terrorists. It is as simple as that.
There are plenty of countries who support terrorists. If you do not like America, I suggest you do business with them.
You said right that we all have a great diversity of opinion on political
and in religious. But who are the Muslims they should have and they have believe on what our
Prophet Muhammad(SAW) stated 1400 years ago, that a time will come near the
doom days, peoples will murder and assassinate to each other but, neither
killer don't know why he is killing to other and nor a died person know why
he is being killed.
In Muslim religious that who killed a single human, they guilty, as killed
all the human of world.
We are not harbor terrorists, we don't support to those who kill to
innocent.

You don't harbor terrorists? Who are you kidding. What was Bin Laden doing bin Pakistan for some 10 years? You harbored him while he plotted attacks on America.
Do you not read the newspapers? There are constant attacks in Pakistan with one group of Muslims killing another because of their religious beliefs. One of the great shames of Islam, is that it is only in the Christian West that Muslims are able to freely practice their religion without fear of attack.
This is why your country is poor and ignorant. What has Pakistan added to modern civilization? What scientist discoveries? What medicines. All the elements if modern life, medicine, science, technology comes from the West. Pakistan has created nothing. There has not been a Pakistani scientist of any importance since the 13th century!! Our science has made life better in Pakistan and saved millions of lives. Yet you support terrorists to kill our people.

World War II began in September 1939 with the German attack on Poland.
By mid-1940, Germany had conquered Poland, the Netherlands, Denmark,
Norway, Belgium, and France, and had Britain at its mercy. At this
time, Hitler began to think about attacking the Soviet Union, with
which he had concluded a non-aggression pact just before the outbreak
of the war. His motivation was both to acquire the "living space" he
had talked about in "Mein Kampf" and to exterminate Communism, which
he saw intertwined with Jewry. The attack took place in June 1941.
It was roughly at this time that Hitler ordered the extermination of
the Jews, which the Nazis called die Endlösung ("the Final Solution").
There is some debate as to exactly when the order was given (since no
written order has been found), but most experts place it in mid- to
late-1941. It most likely was an evolving process.
In any event, concurrent with the invasion of the Soviet Union,
Einsatzgruppen under the overall direction of Heinrich Himmler, Leader
of the SS, followed the German Army into the Soviet Union and began to
shoot Jews - men, women and children - where they were found. Starting
in late 1941 and early 1942, stationary killing centers were set up in
various locations, where Jews were gassed with hydrogen cyanide or
carbon monoxide. By the end of the war, approximately 6 million Jews
had been shot, gassed, or worked to death.
I am not sure I understand your question, but suspect you are getting at religion.
Your short history of the Holocaust is basically correct, but it leaves out the extent to which Arabs countries and Iran along with Islamic clerics supported the Germans and the Holocaust.
As to Hitler's religion. Hitler was raised a Roman Catholic as a boy, but was an adult was an atheist. NAZI policy was to de-Christinize Germany. Many Christians pastors and even more priests were arrested and killed. He wanted to replace Christianity with a kind of NAZI state religion after the War.
He was opposed by the Western allies who were largely Christian and the Soviet Union which was also an atheist state, but many of whose people still retained Christian beliefs.
Some of Hitler's allies were Muslims. The Grand Mufti spent the War in Berlin and encouraged Hitler to kill more Jews. He helped organize Muslim SS units for the Germans. He also had strong support of Muslims in Iraq, Syria, Iran, and Egypt. There were some Muslims, however, who refused to support the killing of Jews, including Muslims in France, Turkey, and Morocco.
As friendly I want to share something special. You do look at what is happening currently, I tell you will never stop the destruction of world and hustle bustle of world. You should research of the study of Islam.

To have an honest discussion, you have to be willing to answer my questions. I had the intellectual honesty to answer your questions, but you just ignored my questions about:
1. Koranic verses rather than promoting Muslims to love their neighbors, explicitly warns them to be wary ad not associate with non-Muslims. The Koran instructs Muslims, "Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. Whoso doeth that hath no connection with Allah unless (it be) that ye but guard yourselves against them, taking (as it were) security. Allah biddeth you beware (only) of Himself. Unto Allah is the journeying. [Qur’an 3:28] This seems to be the opposite of the Christian Golden Rule. Of course this is just one verse, there ate countless other verses that are intolerant, violent, anti-women ect. I will be glad to list them for you, but as you refuse to even reply about Qur’an 3:28, it would be waisting my time.
2. You criticized America for using 'heavy weapons', but refuse to explain why it is OK for Pakistan to use heavy weapons when it invaded India (three times).
3. You say Pakistan does not harbor terrorists, but don't explain why Ben Laden was safe in your country for years.
4. You do not explain why Pakistan has not created any scientific achievements or medicines or important industrial advances. Not only has Israel produced all of these, leaving Pakistan in the dust, but the entire Muslim world. Why does the Muslim world fail to harness the intellectual capabilities of its people?
5. And I will add a fifth question. Why do you scream so widely about civilian casualties in Iraq (which in fact were quite limited) when your country launched a horrendous campaign of killing civilians in then East Pakistan---viciously killing not only men, but women and children in large numbers. And these were not accidental battlefield casualties, but a terrible campaign targeting and killing innocents.
Rather than honestly answering my questions, you just throw a bunch of other questions at me. This is not a real discussion. It is a tactic used by ideologues who don't want to honestly discuss a topic or who have no real answers.
I am, however, quite willing to answer your second set of questions just as I answered the first set.
First of all I want to address your charge that I have not studied the Koran correctly. How do you know that? You are assuming that because that I have not reached YOUR conclusion that I have studied incorrectly. Assuming that another person is wrong purely because he disagrees with you is simply pure ignorance. It is one of the reasons Pakistan and other Muslim countries without oil re so poor. Actually just the opposite is true. You see in America we have religious freedom. We are free to study, reject, or join any religion we want without any governmental influence. Unlike the Muslim world including Pakistan, Muslims in America can for example choose any form of Islam they want without being attacked by their neighbors.
This is different in Pakistan. Christians in your country have to be careful in how they practice their faith. They can be arrested for trying to convert Muslims or even talking too loudly about Christianity. I could be arrested for saying the things I have said about Islam. There are blasphemy laws. This shows that Muslims have concluded that Islam is so weak that it can not stand up to open debate and scrutiny. So in Pakistan it is not possible to freely study other religions and even different Islamic sects. So my friend, it is clearly you who have not studied Islam and the other faiths correctly.
I will be glad answer your questions in a separate eMail, but do you have the intellectual honesty to answer my questions repeated above?
The Conversation with Mr. Faizan followed predictable patterns. Mr. Fazin and most Pakistanis are accustomed to deate. They assume they are right snd others are wrong. This their idea of a discussiuon is to thriw out acusation after acusation. Mny of which they have not even thoiught through. For example he says that American actiins are all zbout oil. But vhe knows very well tht neither Afghnistan or Pakistan do not hsve oil. And he and other Pakistanis refuse to even consider thst their ciountry and their religioin has caused the problem. Rather he believes tht nerica created the terroits. And while he throws out chsrge after chsrge, he absolutely refused to answer even very basic questions. This is of course because theyvoukd firce him to serious consider the issues bding discussed. How cn he explain why Pakistan and other Muslim countries have not pioduced scientists of any real caliber and rely in the West for medical and scietific technology. Even as we speak, gunmen in Karachil fire on and wounded a World Health Organization (WHO) doctor working on pollio iradication.
