The girls in white are presumably the five Spencer daughters (Adeline, Kate, Ethel, Mary and Elizabeth). They are all done out in immaculate white dresses. Notice that the youngest daughter (Elizabeth I think) has very short hair. She might be mistaken for a boy. Only two the girls wear hair bows. Elizabeth is occupying herself with the family dog and seems a lot happier about the family photograph than her brother Charles.
