Jungen: Eure Welt: Articles (Volume VI: 1943)

Figure 1.--Here we see DJ boys (the younger division of the HJ) are being introduced to small arms training with BB guns. The boys are wearing their winter uniforms. They look to be about 11 or 12 years old.

The content is similar to the other volumes. There are sections on current events, politics, the war, arts and crafts, games, sports, wildlife and similar content. Unfortunately we do not yet have a list of the articles. We do have a few page scans which show some of the articles. There were articles about the HJ in all of these different volumes. In this volume we see many HJ activities preparing the boys for war.

The captions to the images here are interesting, but a bit difficult to translate. I know exactly what they mean, but certain words are typical of the Nazi jargon that was used at that time. These words do not exist in the German language anymore. The caption for the top photograph reads, "Die Feldherren des Fähnleins "Florian Geyer" scheinen sehr siegesgewiß zu sein, noch aber ist der Gegner nicht geschlagen." The English translation is, "The field marshalls of the ensign "Florian Geyer" seem to be very sure of victory, but the enemy has not been defeated yet." The word "Feldherren" (Field Marshalls) is meant to be humorous for the young readers of the book. A "Fähnlein" is a small pennant, but in this case a troop of the H.J. as is the term Jungzug, both Nazi expressions. "Florian Geyer" might have been a Nazi leader or some German patriot, I am not sure. The bottom image is captioned, " Hier wird der Kampf um den Jungzugbesten im Luftgewehrschießen ausgetragen. Er bekommt als Preis das Buch "Jungen - eure Welt"." This translates into English as, "Here the battle who will be the best of the troop in airrifle shooting is being fought. He receives the book "Jungen - eure Welt". This tells us that the boys could bot only buy the book, but it was also used by the HJ as prizes.
