We note Burda kniiting patterns done in the folk (tracht) style. Some were translated into other languages. The pattern here was in a Burda publication translated into Dutch.
Burda is a major German pattern company. We do not know when they were established. They continue to be a major company today. We
believe that they did both sewing and knitting patterns. We note that they have a relationship with Simplicity which distributes its patterns. While Burda was a German company, they marketed their patterns in many other European countrues. They publish Burda Kids' Fashions twice annually in 2002. It was foremerly called Burda Toddlers. The magazine is also published in English and Russia. We also notice Burda patterns and publications printed in other languages sych as Dutch. Hopefully our German readers will ptovide us more information about the company.
We note Burda kniiting patterns done in the folk (tracht) style. Some were translated into other languages. The patterns here was in a Burda publication translated into Dutch. It is interesting that there was a market for German-folk styles in the Netherlands.
the imager here shows the Lederhosen-style tracht pattern offered by Burda (figure 1). Note the red-checked shirt, a popular shirt with German folk-styled clothing. The short pants have siuspender straps. The model suggests this was done for younger boys.
There was also a knicker-style tracht pattern. I think the Dutch referred to this as a Tirol-style outfit. It is difficult to see what kind of shirt the boy is wearing, but he has a a tartan collar. He wears red kneesocks with his outfit. Unfortunately, we do not have the Burda ad copy so do not have details concerning the outfit such as age range. The model suggest that this was for somewhat older boys.
