Swedish Children's Authors: Astrid Lindgren

Figure 1.--Astrid Lindgren published "Nils Karlsson Pyssling" in 1956. I'm not sure how that translates. Nils Karlsson I believe is the maincharactr's name. We do not know a great deal about the book, but it appears to be about a little boy. He wears short pants and long stockings.

We notice children's books by Astrid Lindgren. We know little about her at this time. One book is entitled Nils Karlsson Pyssling" (1956). I'm not sure how that translates. Nils Karlsson I believe is the main character's name. We do not know a great deal about the book. We have no details about the story line. The book appears to be about a little boy, presumably Nils. He wears short pants and long stockings. The book was made into a German film with the same name. Lindgren is perhaps best known for Peppi Langstrumpf --Peppi Longstockings. She wrote several books about Peppi and both movies and TV shows followed. Peppi of course wore long stockings. Her long stockings had buttons which seemed to have been common in Germany and Scandinavia. Lindgren's books were very popular in Scandinavia and Germany. We note Norwegian school children putting on a skit based oin one of her books.
