French Fashion Magazines--Tricotons

Figure 1.--These garments appeared in the "Tricotons" sweing magazine, November 1947. The top two garments (cardigan and shorts) were for a boy of 5-8 years. The short sleeve pullover was for a boy of 12-13 years. The long sleeve pull over was for a boy of 11-12 years.

A French raeder mentioned Tricotons to HBC. We know virtually nothing about the magazine at this time. We know that it was publishing after World War II. We note issues in 1946 and 1947, but we do not know when it began and when it ceased publications. The 1940s issues offered patterns for boys knits, including boys' wool knit pullover and cardigan sweaters and and shorts. Some of the shorts had balloning romper fashions. A reader tells us that this magazine was widely distributed throughout France and the colonies. Tricotons was one of several magazines published by " Les Editions Mondiales " 2 Rue des Italiens PARIS . This firm specialized in knitting publications, both children's ans adult patterns. The firm no longer exists.
