Crown Prince Rupprecht's Son Albrecht: Clothing--Hosiery

Figure 1.--Albrecht from about 7 or 8 years of age looks to have commonly worn long stockings with his satin kneepants suits. This appaers to have been a matter of age and formality rather than a seasonal matter.

Prince Albrecht as a younger boy wore short white socks with dresses or short kneepants outfits. As an older boy he commonly wore long stockings with his satin kneepants outfits. The long stockings look white, but they could have been pastel colors as well matching the color of the suits. We do not notice him wearing dark longstockings with dark suits like his older brother, but we do not have any images after about 1915. The choice of long stockings appears to be a matter if age and formaity of dress rather than a seasonal matter. Albrecht also wore kneesocks. We note both dark and lighter-colored kneesocks with the Bavarian folk lederhosen outfits. As he wore long pants with his sailor suits we do not know what kind of hosiery was involved.
