Spanish Royalty: Clothing for Alfonso XIII's Children--Identical Outfits

Figure 1.--Queen Ena here in 1910 have dressed Princes Alfonso and Jaime in identical white sweaters and short pants. The baby is Princess Beatrice.

Queen Ena appars to have liked dressing the children in identical outfits. In many photographs the boys od similar age are dressed identically, often in pairs. The younger and older siblings do tend to war different outfits, unlike the German princes at about this time who might all be dressed alike. Simalarly the girls of comparable age are dressed alike. The most common outfit for the princes was matching sailor suits which they appear to have worn into their early teens. We do not note the princesses, however, wearing sailor outfits like the boys. We have not noted the princes and princesses dressed alike in identical outfits.
