Individual French Schools: Béthisy St. Pierre (1933)

Figure 1.-- We see Baromesnil écoliers, a group of children from the village of Baromesnil on a class trip to Paris after World War II (1946). During the German occupation (1940-44), it was not very easy to travel. So most of the children probably remained in the village. As a result this must have been very exciting experience for the children.

Baromesnil is a very small French town on the English Channel. We note some images from the village school. We do not know much about the school, but it seems to have been a small coed ecolé. We see a group og boys all dressed up for the end of school pagent in 1939. We are not sure what the costumes were. We also a group of children from the village on a school trip to Paris after World War II (1946). During the German occupation (1940-44), it was not very easy to travel. Of course as the village was on the coast, the children would have seen German World War II activity. We do not have details as to just what went on in the village during the War. As there were various travel restrictions, most of the children probably remained in the village. As a result. this must have been very exciting experience for the children. The children are different ages so it was a school amnd not a class trip.
