T-We are not sure about the name of this school. It may be the Nyugaku School. Here we are not positive, nor do we have any information on the school. We are guessing that the portrait here is the new first grade class with their parents. Note that it is mostly mothers who were sty at home mons. Most of the fathers went tgo work. The portrait is undated, but we would guess about 1970. Note the variety of hosiery here. A reader writes, "Do we know when this photo was taken? I suspect in the late 1950s or early 1960s. The black tights (or possibly long stockings)
are worn in some cases with ankle socks, it would appear. At first I thought that the children with the wide white collars were girls, but I'm not sure this is correct. Is the child in the first row, fourth
from the right, a girl or a boy? At first I thought it was a girl, but he seems to be wearing short pants." Unfortunately the portrasit is ot dated. Personally I would guess it was taken about 1970. I would say it definitely was not taken in the 1950s, but the late 60s is certainly possible. As to the gender of the children, our reader has correcectly identified the large collars as a way to identify the girls. And the child he asks about I would say is surely a girl.
