New Zealand School Uniform Garments: Sweaters

Sweaters are a very common school uniform item in New Zealand. Many schools have blazers, but do not require that they be worn. At many schools boys instead wear sweaters for every day. Sweaters are often worn by both boys and girls, usully the same style. Most school uniforms sweaters were grey. This was especially the case where boys wore grey shorts. While most school uniform sweaters were grey, we have also seen green, blue, brown, and green sweaters. There are also white sweaters to be worn for cricket. The sweaters are mostly "V" neck so that they can be worn with ties. Many school uniform sweaters were all grey. The sweaters were, however, commonly done with trim in the school colors done at the neck, or sometimes the wrist cuffs and waistband as well.

Sweaters are a very common school uniform item in New Zealand. Many schools have blazers, but do not require that they be worn. At many schools boys instead wear sweaters for every day. New Zealand has a mild winter. There are only a few days oif really cold weather. Snowfall is very limited. Thus during the winter, a sweater is often quite adequate.

Gender

Sweaters are often worn by both boys and girls, done in the same style. As far as we call tell the same sweaters are worn by both boys and girls.

Colors

Most school uniforms sweaters were grey. This is especially the case at schools where boys wore grey shorts. While most school uniform sweaters were grey. The grey sweaters often but not always have colored trim done of course in the school colors. Many schools have plain grey sweaters. White grey sweaters are the most common. They are certainly, however, not the only color. we also see green, blue, brown, and green sweaters. There are also white sweaters to be worn for cricket. Blue sweaters are the most common of the colored sweaters, but there are several schools with red sweaters and a few with green seaters. Brown sweaters exist, but were less common. Most of the colored sweaters do not have colored trim, bit some had a school logo.

Type

The sweaters are mostly "V" neck so that they can be worn with ties. Many New Zealand schools, however, do not require that ties be worn. Even so they continue to use mostly :V"neck sweatrers for school wear.

Trim

Many school uniform sweaters were all grey. This is the uniform sweater selected by the schools These allgret sweaters are also sometimes seen even ar schools who have uniform sweaters with colored trim. Here school rules vary from school to school. The sweaters were, however, commonly done with trim in the school colors done at the neck, or sometimes the wrist cuffs and waistband as well. Often schools have the same colored trim done in the top bands of their kneesocks. Normally the trim is done in two color combinations.
