We notice many boys wearing smocks at the school. As with other schools, there was no requirement and there are smocks of many different styles. Note that the boys wear mostly light-colored smocks, often patterned ginham smocks. Unfortunately we can not tell much about the colors. The dark-colored smocks that were widely worn through the 1930s are no longer commonly worn. In some classes we see few boys wearing classes, in others quite a few are wearing them. Age is one factor, but we see considerabkle variation even among classes ar the same grade (fo0rm level). Many boys wear short pants, but boys also wear long pants. Here age and seasonality appear to have been a factor. Another factor is etnicity. The algerian boys seem to wear long pants more than the French boys. Most of the boys look to be French, but there are several Algerian boys as well.
