Here we see the Form 1A boys right after World War II. The boys are all smartly turned out, even though Britain still had clothes rationing. The boys almost all wear short pants suits with kneesocks. One boys wears a sweater and another a casual rather than suit jacket. I don't think short pants were rwquired, they were just common at the time for boys this age. The boys' suits, sweaters, shorts and kneesocks don't seem to be uniform items as there are major differences.
