Chillingham Public School (Australia, 1940s)


Figure 1.-- Here we see the Chillingham Public School in 1948 on a bright sunny day. There was still no uniform. We have no idea why the backdrop was constructed. Click on the image to see the rest of the school.

We see another image of the school, this time in 1948. The school seems to have grown substsantislly. There look to be about twice the number of children. The photograph was taken on a sunny day. Some of the children have sun caps. There is still no uniform. For some reason it was felt necessary to build a huge back drop for the portrait. The boys all look to be wearing short pants. Somer of the children wear sudspernder pants and skirts. Most of the children are barefoot. They seem to be more casually dressed than in the 1930s.
