Australian School Uniform: Individual Schools--Chillingham Public School


Figure 1.-- Here we see the Chillingham Public School in 1935. It is a state primary school in 1935. There was no uniform, but the children dressed up fotr the photograsph.

We do not know much about thr Chillingham Public School, except that it was located in Chillijgham, New South Wales. This means that it was located in southeastern Australia. Chillingham was not a major city and we do not know just where in ther state it was located. The school was a state primary school. Beyond this basic infirn=mation wee know nothing about the school. We do have several photographs from the school over time. The school was a coed primary school. It appears to be a small primary school as the available images look like the entire schoo with children of a range of ages rather than just one class. We notice that for many years there was no uniform at the school. The school appears to have introduced a uniform in the 1970s.

School History

School Uniform

We notice that for many years there was no uniform at the school. The school appears to have introduced a basic, informal uniform in the 1970s. The boys wore grey shirts and blue short pants. Some of the shirts had the school logo. The girls wore checked shirts with jumpers, again some had school logos. The school changed to an even more informal uniform in the 1990s. The school in the 1990s changed to a blue "T" shirt with the school logo done in a large circle on the shirt.

Chronology

We have found a number of images taken at the school over the years since it was founded. Images are availanle for the century in which the school has operated. The images provide a fascinating look as school fashions over time.
