Junior boys at Grenock Academy in 1908 do not seem to have had a set uniform. Several boys wear their school caps, but they do not seem to have been required--at least for the photograph. Eton collars were still being worn, four boys wear their school caps with a Eton collar suit. Only one boy wears his school cap with a sailor suit. Most boys stopped wearing sailor suits by the time they started school, but earlier they were more common. One boy has a blazer with light-colored piping. Most boys wear regular suits, but the photograph is no clear enough to make out detailing. Almost certainly several boys would have worn Norfolk jackets. The boys also wear a wide variety of ties. Many boys wear short trousers and kneesocks, but I not sure how universal this was. It is not clear what the boys in the back rows are wearing. I see no indication that any of the boys are wearing kilts, but it is difficult to tell from the photograph.
