These two American brothers about 1925 wear tan long stockings with short pants, albeit rather long shorts. They look to be about 4 and 10 years old. The younger brother wears a silk shirt. His brother wears a double breasted suit.

Individuals

HBC has no information as to the identity of these two boys. They almost certainly are brothers and HBC would jusge from the clothing that they are from a comfortable, but not necessarily rich family. The fact that they were professionally photographed is another factor that suggest that they lived in comfortable circumstances.

Chronology

The photograph is undated, but the clothing helps to date the image. Bows were very common in the eraly 20th century, but by the 1920s only younger boys wore them. The fact that the older boy wears a necktie rather than a bow suggests that the photograph was taken in the 1920s. The tan stockings rather confirm that the boys were not photographed in the 1910s. The rathr long shorts suggest that they were not photographed in the 1930s. Thus 1925 seems like a likely date.

Country

There is no information as to the provinace of the portrait, but it is in an American collection. Also the clothes look rather American so HBC assumes that the boys are American.

These two American brothers look to be about 4 and 10 years old.

Garments

Several period garments can be seen here. The youngr boy looks to be wearing a silk shirt. He also wears a big bow. uite old boys might wear large bows before Worl War I (914-18). After the War by the 1920s only younger boys ore them. The older brother with his double-breasted suit wears a modern necktie. Both boys wear rather lkong short pants. The younger boys' shorts may have a self belt. Both boys wear tan long stockings with oxford shoes.
