Ringlet Curl Characteristics: Tightness--Loose Curl Parts

Figure 1.--This boys has very loose ringlets looking almost like a wave. He has a left par so his hair falls longer in the right side. Image courtesy of the RG collection. Click on the image to see the boy's tunic suit.

Another variation with these loosely done curls is the part. The hair could be parted in the center or at the sides Notice the boy here with the center part. We also notice boys with side parts. The side parts of course meant that the length of the hair on each side varied. Tge boy here has a left part which was the most common for boys. We do not yet know if the left or right parts were the most common for curls. This boy clearly had a doting mother. Notice how perfectly his hair is combed, including a perfevtly done part. He is also dressed elegantly all in white. He has a white tunic which he wears with a large white collar and floppy bow. He alsi had white three-quarter socks and strap shoes.
