This is a summer Faultleroy suit. The summer suits were usually done in a lighter fabric and in a lighter color. This one was a light brown, a standard color for by, but not all that common for Fauntleroy suits. It was consisted of a standard cut-away jacket and knee pants. The jacket is done with frogging, repeated on he knee pants rather than the standard three ornamental buttons. The frogging is done in the same color as the jacket and pants. For some reason that was generally the convention when frogging as used with Fauntleroy suit. Repating in on the pants was rare. The knee pants must have been paired with a fancy button-on Fauntleroy blouse. We can't see the buttoning arrangement because of a wide waistband . But we see the blouse front placket and and matching large collar. It is done with cutout lace. Unfortunately there is no provenance or other information associated with thise suit. We suspects it dates to the 1890s. We also have no sizing information.
