Boys' Historical Uniform Garments: Lederhosen--Organizations

Lederhosen were in fact widely worn by Hitler Youth groups. They have been worn, however, by European boys in uniformed organizations in many other countries as well. After World War II, Boy Scouts in Autria, France, Germany, and Switzerland often wear lederhosen as part of their official Scout uniforms. They were also often worn in the Flemish VNJ.

Hitler Youth

Lederhosen were in fact widely worn by Hitler Youth groups. They were once associated

European Right Wing Groups

Some boys in the righ-wing or nationlist youth groups formed before or after the German occupations also wore lederhosen. The Germans only allowed these groups to be formed in Nordic countries and Belgium and France.

Scouts

Boy Scouts in Austria, France, Germany, Norway, and Switzerland often wear lederhosen as part of their official Scout uniforms. HBU believes that Scouts in began wearing lederhosen from the earlist years of the Scouting movement, especially in Germany and Austria.

Flemish VNJ
