This cased Daguerrotype is a portrait of a boy named William Buckmaster photographed in 1853. He looks to be about 10 years old. Williamm wears a collar buttoning militarty style jacket, almost certainly blue. This was one of the most opular jacket styles at mid-century. He has a white collar shirt abd his stock is done in a big bow, unusual at the time. An enclosed tag identifies him as William Buckmaster and 1853 is written in the case interior. The studio was that of J.W. Thompson. He is not a well know Daguerrotypist, but is known toi have been active at Broadway and other New York City addresses. You can see all the component parts.
