HBC readers have provide images of actual smocks worn by Spanish school children. The images we currently have are modern smocks from Catalonia, but w will also archive any images of vintahde socks we may receive here. These images often offer more details about the garments than are available in portrit and school images.
This blue boy's school smock was from a Catalonian school in Barcelona. It is a collarless back buttoning smock in a small blue and white check. There are white buttons at the back and sleeve cuff. There is also on pocket at the right front. The smock has a high not waist belt. The girls at the school had similar smocks, only in pink and with a Peter Pan collar.

There is also on pocket at the right front. The smock has a high yoke, but no waisline. There is a half waist belt at the back. I'm not sure what the purpose wa, perhaps to tighten the fit. The boys at the school had similar smocks, only in blue and with no collars and with a Peter Pan collar.
